My grandfather likes good R&B music so I purchased this for Christmas as a gift for him. He loves it.
All I'm going to say is that Musiq aka Muse IQ is the most consistent brother in R&B. Over the past ten years only he & Brian McKnight have been able to crank out cds that are truly great. Musiq's "OnMyRadio" is just another tight album by the Soulchild himself. A must have.
I love this guy. He is a great artist and has not disappointed me yet-Musiq keep doing what you do, you have a fan for life in CA.
I play this cd as much as Maxwell new cd (but dang Max only got 9 songs, and they play every song on the radio) This is about Musiq so i will lay off that. I can listen to this song over and over.
However the rest of the cd is wonderful. for the most part this is a great CD, the radio song is different.
I think it's Marvin Gaye song, not sure the name of the song it's a sample of. The more i listen to it the more i like it.
My fav song is 'Until' That song is great music, words, and that sample is hot. I say it's worth it, pick it up.
Get the cd you would love it.
And it looks like I just named all the songs. There are also a handful of otherwise good songs that have questionable choruses -- well, the second half of the choruses, anyway (see "Special" and "Until").
The unfortunate thing, though, was that he didn't release another good album until Luvanmusiq, his fourth time around (sorry, y'all, Juslisen was overrated). Musiq Soulchild has always had talent, which was obviously proven by listening to his debut album Aijuswanaseing.
Highlights include "Loveofmylife" (though I can do without that "body parts" line during the chorus; more on that later) and "Deserveumore"; and although "Backagain" doesn't talk about anything new, it works. However, there are a few times when the songs are hard to relate to, namely "Moneyright"; and "Dearjohn" letters don't work right when told in the first person. Thankfully, he keeps the good times rolling with Onmyradio.I was a little concerned when I first heard "Ifuleave", however.
Not that it isn't a good song, but every time I heard it from then on I wanted to sing: "Ifuleave/It sounds just like Teachme." Fortunately, the rest of the album is more varied, and this might even be the first time Musiq is singing in a more standard fashion rather than that speak-singing he usually does. But after the aforementioned "Moneyright" comes the three best songs on the album: "Someone", "Iwannabe" (with Damian Marley) and the aptly titled "Sobeautiful".But just when you thought the end of the album was safe, the final track is "Radio", a blatant attempt to cater to the young'uns, complete with "EY."s in the background as well as throwing around the word "shawty" -- and to be honest, I was expecting Gucci Mane to show up or something.
Onmyradio isn't Musiq's best album but it's much better than a lot of the stuff that's on the radio right NOW.Anthony Rupert
